Wahler of Klein Krams

A group of emigrants from Klein Krams reached New York on July 26th, 1882 on ship "Wieland". The Wahler family belonged to this group.

The family

AUGUST Johann Christian Wahler
joiner in Klein Krams
b. 1851 in Klein Krams (son of teacher Adolph Friedrich Jacob Wahler and his wife Catharina Maria Dorothea Jahnke)
marr. 1877
MARIA Sophia Dorothea Hinrichs
b. 1853 in Bresegard (daughter of Buedner farmer Johann Jürgen Hinrichs, Bresegard)

Children:
1. AUGUST Johann Joachim Wahler, b. 1878
2. FRIEDRICH Joachim Carl Wahler, b. 1881
3. John Henry Wahler, b. 1884, Dane Co., Wisconsin

With this family also travelled Wahler's mother Catharina Maria DOROTHEA Wahler neè Jahnke. She was the second wife of teacher Adolph Friedrich Jacob Wahler who had died 1861. They had only two children who both emigrated. Perhaps some of Adolph Wahler's children of his first marriage with Anna Catharina Neeck had emigrated before.

To this group belonged also the mother-in-law of Wahler's sister (marr. Dauck), old Johann Scheper and the Timmermann family.

August Wahler and his family settled in Middleton, Dane Co., Wisconsin. He worked as a carpenter. His three sons still lived in Middleton in 1930, all working as painters.

Thank you to George Williams for his information about the family's live in America.
