In the passenger lists of ship "Saxonia" which reached New York on Sept. 9th, 1865 we find the unmarried Sophia Schmidt, 23 years old. This could be Sophia Elisa Maria Friederike Schmidt, b. 1843 in Leussow. She was the daughter of Einwohner Johann Friedrich Schmidt and his wife Anna Catharina Elisabeth Meinke. She was the seventh of eight children.
A whole family arrived shortly afterwards at New York with the "Teutonia". It was on Oct. 14th, 1865. They were distant relatives of Sophia Schmidt.
