CATHARINA Maria Sophia Potass was born 1846 in Leussow. She was the illeg. child of
Christina Elisabeth Dorothea Potass aus Leussow (daughter of an Einwohner) and of farmhand Johann Peter Evermann, who came perhaps from Niendorf near Conow .
Catharina Potass arrived in New York with ship "Borussia" on April 21st 1866.
Her cousin JOHANN Joachim Friedrich Potass reached New York on Sept. 30th 1883 with ship"Moravia", together with many emigrants of Griese Gegend. His parents were Einwohner Joachim FRIEDRICH Potass and his wife Maria CHRISTINE Sophia Gienke. Johann was born 1854. He was the third of seven children (two of them stillborn). Perhaps some of his siblings also left Germany.
