The ancestor’s of both my parents mainly come from Mecklenburg.
While the family of my paternal grandfather (Schmidt) originates from southwest Mecklenburg, the ancestors of my paternal grandmother (Frahm) come from the border area between Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg
They lived in the region between Wittenburg in the south, the area around Moelln in the west,
and Luebeck and Kluetzer Winkel in the north.
My mother’s family is a little more complicated.
Her father (Toellner) and his ancestors lived throughout Mecklenburg, between Guestrow and Helpt, and between Tessin near Rostock and Waren/Mueritz.
A few exotic foreigners from
Sachsen and
Niedersachsen belong to them as well.
My maternal grandmother’s ancestors lived in just two regions. The Soehlke's
family mostly originated from Schaumburg-Lippe and the
Bredfeldt's from southwest Mecklenburg.
