Jante of Göhlen

I know two Jante emigrants from Göhlen.
The first who left his home village was Johann HEINRICH Carl Jante, b. 1820 in Göhlen. He was the third of four sons of Hauswirt (farmer) and Schulze (mayor) Johann Jochen Hinrich Jante. His oldest brother inherited the farm, the other two died young.
Heinrich Jante obviously was a naughty young man:
1843 his first illegal child was born and died only five weeks later. Mother was Maria Elisabeth Jante, b. 1818 in Göhlen. She survived her child only for one year.
Two years later his other two illegal children were born. In November 1845 a son who died after three days. Mother Catharina Elisabeth Bredfeldt was born 1826
Only one month later Catharina Maria Sophia Elisabeth Bredfeldt, b. 1823, gave birth to a daughter, named after her. This girl married later a man in the parish of Conow.
Beeing the reason for so much trouble Heinrich Jante left the country. When he came to America I do not know, but an entry in his baptism record tells us that he went to Milwaukee.

ShoemakerJOHANN Jürgen Christian Carl Jante left Göhlen with wife and children in 1882. They came to New York with the "Catalonia" on Oct. 19th, 1882. They had been travelling with the Friehl family from Göhlen.

Children:
1. EMMA Jante, b. abt. 1871, probably illegal in Parchim

6. Mary Jante, b. 1893 in Minnesota

The parents and the three youngest children lived 1900 in Millerville Twp, Douglas Co., Minnesota. Probably the children Hermann and Mary were already born there.

Thank you to George Williams who helped finding the family in America.
