The oldest son Johann emigrated and reached New York on July 1st, 1866. One year later his widowed mother Christine Hirchert followed him, together with the two youngest sons Christian and Heinrich. They reached New York with the "Eugenie" on Nov. 11th, 1867. Also the second son, Carl, left Germany and died in America in 1926, leaving several children and grandchildren.
