Children:
1. Catharina Maria Elisabeth Bredfeldt, b. a. d.. 1850 (illeg.)
2. Maria Catharina Elisabeth Gauerke, b. 1853, Göhlen
3. John Gauerke, b. abt. 1855, Wisconsin
4. Minna Gauerke, b. abt. 1857, Wisconsin
5. Mary Gauerke, b. abt. 1863, Wisconsin
6. Charles Gauerke, b. abt. 1864, Wisconsin
Johann Gauerke and his family probably travelled to America in 1853 or 1854. They had bought a Buedner farm in Göhlen in 1853 but sold it again to the former owner the same year.
They appear in
Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin in 1860 with two children born in Wisconsin. The daughter born 1853 probably died because she is not mentioned in any list.
Gauerke worked as shoemaker in his new hometown. He must have died before 1870 because he also is not mentioned any more.
His wife and the children obviously stayed in Milwaukee. I assume that also her parents and siblings lived in this region.
Thank you to George Williams for his help.
