Heinrich Fehlandt was heir of his parental farm in Picher and worked there until about 1854/1858. Why he left Picher and moved to Göhlen to work on a small Büdner farm afterwards I do not know. 1865 the family left Göhlen and reached New York on ship "Teutonia" on July 27th, 1865. They were accompanied by Heinrich Fehlandt's mother, Marie. She was born in
Strohkirchen near Picher in 1806, daughter of Hauswirt farmer Heinrich Schult and Sophie Meibohm.
At first the family settled in
Roxbury, Dane County, Wisconsin, and moved 1869 to the adjoining township of Berry. Heinrich Fehlandt farmed there until 1892 when he moved to the village of Mazomanie.
Thank you to George Williams for the information about the family's emigration.
