The family emigrated between 1883 and 1890 to America. At first they lived in
Garnavillo, Clayton Co., Iowa. Son William stayed there while the rest of the family moved on to
South Dakota and settled in Wentworth, Lake Co.
Franz Busch had been the youngest of 6 children. He had earned his money as a daylabourer. For his children and himself he hoped for a better life in America.
