Bernien of Picher

The family emigrated to America in 1872. They reached New York with ship "Westphalia" on 17th of July.

2. JOHANN (JOHN) Joachim Friedrich Bernien, b. 1858 Picher
3. AUGUSTE Sophie Dorothea Bernien, b. 1861 Picher, d. after 1880

Daughter Minnie married 1872 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, Frederich/Fred Heiden. In 1880 Auguste lived in their house.
In the Federal Census of 1900 we find John and Mary Bernien,living with their son John in Reedsburg,Sauk Co., Wisconsin. In 1910 Mary still lived there as a widow.
John Bernien married 1891 in Ironton, Sauk Co., Wisconsin, Minnie Sass who was born in Leussow, Germany.
